Descendants of John Martin Cox

First Generation

1.  John Martin Cox was born in 1829. He died in 1871 at the age of 42.

Sarah Adeline "Addie" Long, daughter of Isaac George Long and Nancy Hickman, was born on November 8, 1837. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Living in Simpson Creek. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Widow. Sarah died on February 20, 1898 at the age of 60.

John Martin Cox and Sarah Adeline "Addie" Long had the following children:

                                   2              i.              Issac Jordan Cox, born April 29, 1856, Horry County, SC; married Sarah J. Dewitt, November 24, 1889, Horry County, SC; died November 6, 1901.

                                                   ii.             Maham J. Cox was born on February 4, 1865. He died on October 9, 1918 at the age of 53.

                                                   iii.            William Cox was born (date unknown).

                                                   iv.            Wilson Cox was born (date unknown).

                                                   v.             Mary E. Cox was born (date unknown).

 

Second Generation

2.  Issac Jordan Cox (John Martin-1) was born on April 29, 1856 in Horry County, SC. He died on November 6, 1901 at the age of 45. He was buried in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.  

Issac Jordan Cox and Sarah J. "Sallie" Dewitt were married on November 24, 1889 in Horry County, SC. Sarah J. "Sallie" Dewitt, daughter of Joseph George Washington Dewitt and Demaris Floyd, was born on January 31, 1867. She died on February 22, 1944 at the age of 77. She was buried in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.  

Issac Jordan Cox and Sarah J. Dewitt had the following children:

                                   3              i.              Sanford Dewitt Cox, born March 17, 1891, Horry County, SC; died September 8, 1962.

                                                   ii.             Janie Cox was born on July 27, 1892 in Horry County, SC.

                                                   iii.            Emma Annie Cox was born in October, 1893 in Horry County, SC.

                                                   iv.            Ruby Cox was born in December, 1895 in Horry County, SC.

                                   4              v.             Bonnie Mae Cox, born July 6, 1899, Horry County, SC; married Emerson Thomas Bellamy, December 4, 1919; died April 3, 1986.

                                   5              vi.            Mary Emma Cox, born September 14, 1901, Horry County, SC; married Landy Cooper Nixon; died July 30, 1993.

Third Generation

3.  Sanford Dewitt Cox (Issac Jordan-2, John Martin-1) was born on March 17, 1891 in Horry County, SC. He was born on March 17, 1891. He died on September 8, 1962 at the age of 71. Sanford was also known as Sanford Dewitt Cox.

Mary Belle Parker, daughter of Issac Benjiman Parker and Susan Emaline Murray, was born on May 11, 1881 in Horry County, SC. She died on September 14, 1962 at the age of 81.

4.  Bonnie Mae Cox (Issac Jordan-2, John Martin-1) was born on July 6, 1899 in Horry County, SC. She died on April 3, 1986 at the age of 86.   She was buried in Salem Methodist Church Cemetery.

Bonnie Mae Cox and Emerson Thomas Bellamy were married on December 4, 1919. Emerson Thomas Bellamy, son of Joseph Theodore Bellamy and Victoria Elizabeth Bellamy, was born on December 27, 1888 in Horry County, SC. He died on December 8, 1969 at the age of 80 in Horry County, SC.  He served in the military PFC US Army. Emerson had Social Security Number 250-60-2567  Issued in South Carolina. He was buried in Salem Methodist Church Cemetery. He served in the military Served in WW I.

Emerson Thomas Bellamy and Bonnie Mae Cox had the following children:

                                   7              ii.             Earnistine Rebecca Bellamy, born January 16, 1923.

                                   8              iii.            Clarence Dean Bellamy, born September 10, 1925, Horry County, SC; died July 30, 2017, Columbia, SC.

                                   9              iv.            Henry Joseph "Hank" Bellamy, born October 4, 1927, Conway, SC; died December 4, 1997, Conway, SC.

                                   10           v.             Bonita Phyllis Bellamy, born January 30, 1931.

                                   11           vi.            Edwin Thomas Bellamy, born April 26, 1933.

5.  Mary Emma Cox (Issac Jordan-2, John Martin-1) was born on September 14, 1901 in Horry County, SC. She died on July 30, 1993 at the age of 91.

Mary Emma Cox and Landy Cooper Nixon were married. Landy Cooper Nixon was born in 1892. He died in 1975 at the age of 83.

8.  Clarence Dean Bellamy (Bonnie Mae Cox-3, Issac Jordan-2, John Martin-1) was born on September 10, 1925 in Horry County, SC. He died on July 30, 2017 at the age of 91 in Columbia, SC. He was buried on August 5, 2017 in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

9.  Henry Joseph "Hank" Bellamy (Bonnie Mae Cox-3, Issac Jordan-2, John Martin-1) was born on October 4, 1927 in Conway, SC. He died on December 4, 1997 at the age of 70 in Conway, SC. He served in the military PFC US Army.   Hank was buried in Salem United Methodist Church. He served in the military Served in Korea.

Elvia Stroupe was born on February 11, 1917. She died on September 3, 1983 at the age of 66 in Conway, SC.   She was buried in Salem United Methodist Church.
